How Our
Program Works


The first step is to be sure that our program is right for you: after filling out our intake form, you will have an initial consultation with one of our doctors. If the doctor finds you to be a good candidate, the next step is to attend our nutria class (held twice monthly), which teaches you everything you need to know to get started on the program. You will learn how the body deals with different types of foods, and why certain foods cause us to gain weight. We will walk you through how to eat a diet rich in healthy natural fats, and low in carbohydrates. Each patient will have a program that is tailored to them, based on their medical history, the physician's advice, and their desires.

One of the keys to success is close follow up: patients will have follow ups in a small group of 4-5 people and our educator. Here, we can see what is working well for you, what isn't and how to fix it. Initially visits will be more frequent to ensure that you are on the right path, and then will move to once a month, but this can change based on your needs.

Most people with type 2 diabetes who follow this program are able to decrease or stop their insulin altogether. Many other medications are often able to be reduced as well. Our physicians will help to adjust your medications at each step of the way, based on your changing needs.


Blood tests

Fasting blood work will be required at the beginning of the program, and must be repeated at certain intervals depending on your clinical circumstances. These bloods can be done privately or at your local hospital/CLSC.

Prefer to have one-on-one visits?

We have found that a group setting allows patients to see others’ struggles and successes, and to learn additional ways that they can succeed. If you feel that a group setting isn’t for you, please contact us.
