Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic syndrome is the name of a group of factors that increase your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and strokes.

Having just 3 of the following factors puts you at increased risk:

  • Large waistline
  • Elevated triglycerides (a type of fat found in the blood)
  • Low "good" cholesterol (HDL)
  • High blood pressure
  • Elevated fasting blood sugar

Medical treatments are aimed at treating the symptoms, but do not address the problem of insulin resistance, which is at the heart of metabolic syndrome. Type 2 diabetes is not a chronic and progressive problem if we treat the root cause and not just the associated symptoms.

Treating insulin resistance is the cornerstone of our program. Diabetes is a dietary problem, so it is only fitting to treat it with diet. By making simple changes to your life, you can lose weight and reverse your diabetes and other risk factors for metabolic syndrome.
